The recent arrest of these individuals by the Guardia Civil highlights the serious consequences of fraudulent real estate scams. This case, which began with an innocent internet advertisement, shows just how far fraudsters are willing to go to deceive unsuspecting victims. It all started when an advert for a property in the central town of Puerto del Rosario was posted on an online classifieds portal. The property, with a tempting monthly rent of 600 euros, attracted the attention of a hopeful tenant. Little did this person know that he was about to be the victim of a sophisticated scam.

The victim's ordeal began innocently enough when they contacted the supposed owner. To add an even more sinister twist to the plot, the owner not only offered the property for rent but also tempted the victim with an option to buy. Eager to secure the deal, the victim agreed to the owner's demands, initially making several transfers as a security deposit and four months' rent in advance. These payments included expenses for contract fees, notary fees, property repairs, and other costs. In the end, the victim had transferred a total of 14,330 euros to various accounts associated with the suspects.

However, the promised rental or purchase agreement was never finalized, and the victim never even set foot in the property. As time went on, the suspects continued to invent excuses to extract more money from the victim until it became clear that a scam had taken place. The victim's dream of owning a new home had turned into a nightmare of financial losses and deception.
